Created by Dan Cederholm and Rich Thornett Dribble has become my favorite online community site. Smartly designed, with instant uploads I am able share ideas or works in progress, 400 x 300 pixels at a time, then converse with like minded people.

With a simple interface and collection of a great range of thinkers it is a valuable design resource for discovering and following evolving popular culture.

Big Red has a garage full of big red machines. Join Elliot, Jessica and Big Red as they discover the Ice Machine, the first, and find out what goes into making the perfect ice.

This project has been full of character development and getting to draw the ice machine was a return to early childhood when they seemed as important as the hockey. Another element I enjoy greatly is that the book will be available in Francais and English, this prompted once again a return to childhood and old hockey jerseys.

The app will be ready for iPhones and the iPad by May 30, 2010. Phase two will feature interactive elements on each page along with audio.

Art is about stories. And sometimes, one still image begs for another. That’s exactly what Rich Rawlyk has done with A Whales Tale.

He has given the reader an opportunity to experience a beautiful Canadian icon in more than one moment. Based on the story of brothers growing up in the arctic, this collection, while visually simple delves into a profound story of transformation that parallels the experiences of Rich himself.

Currently in the studio finishing the 21 lithograph prints.

While most of us turn to the classified ads when we’re looking for a 2-bedroom apartment or 98 Mustang, Rich Rawlyk pours over them for the sole purpose of creative inspiration. He has taken the simple format of a content driven newspaper grid of 10 columns at 30 mm classified ads and reproduced them in a way that really examines the whole notion of what “classified” content really is. Sharing his own personal stories and mirroring what is happening in social media today, Rich liberates himself, creating a visually familiar and emotionally germane connection with the reader – a reader who was more than likely expecting to read about mileage and damage deposits.

I am working on submissions and hope to have a gallery show for my 21 Classified ads in the fall of 2010 or early 2011. Getting everything together has been a great way to reflect on the work involved, original vision and five years that have passed since completing this project.

Currently in submission process and looking for a fall show.
